Application for terminating hypothecation (loan) from vehicle RC
Visit Official Portal →💡 Form 35 is an RTO application used to terminate the hypothecation (loan endorsement) from your vehicle's Registration Certificate (RC) after you have fully repaid your car or bike loan. It must be submitted along with a Bank NOC.
15 to 30 days after submission at RTO
Varies by state (Typically ₹100 - ₹500 for car, ₹50 - ₹200 for bike)
Any vehicle owner with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their financing bank indicating full loan repayment.
Vehicle owners who have repaid their car or bike loan and want to remove the bank's name (hypothecation) from the Registration Certificate (RC).
Once your loan is fully repaid, ask your bank/financier for a loan closure NOC and two copies of Form 35 signed by the bank's authorized signatory.
Visit parivahan.gov.in (Vahan Citizen Services), log in, and select 'Addition / Continuation / Termination of Hypothecation'.
Upload scanned copies of the Bank NOC, Form 35, and other required documents on the Vahan portal.
Pay the required RTO fee for Hypothecation Termination and Smart Card RC printing.
Take the printout of the fee receipt, application form, original RC, Bank NOC, and Form 35 to your designated RTO for verification.
Once approved, the RTO will dispatch the new RC (without the bank's hypothecation) via speed post to your registered address.
Yes, it is highly recommended. Until you remove the hypothecation using Form 35, the bank remains the legal owner of the vehicle in RTO records. You cannot sell the vehicle or transfer ownership without removing it.
A Bank NOC for loan closure is typically valid for 90 days from the date of issue. If it expires, you must request a new NOC from your bank before submitting Form 35 to the RTO.
The application and fee payment can be done online through the Parivahan Vahan portal. However, most RTOs (except in a few states like Delhi or Maharashtra with Aadhar authentication) still require you to submit or speed-post the physical original RC and Bank NOC to the RTO office.
